CLOSURE: VT ROUTE 125, VT ROUTE 30, and VT ROUTE 7, Main Street, Cross Street at Rotary.

The intersecting routes and streets will be closed until conclusion of the parade,so plan accordingly!

PARADE ROUTE - The parade begins at Porter Field and turns right north, onto South Main Street (VT ROUTE 30) following South Main St around the rotary (CLOSING THE FOLLOWING INTERSECTIONS; VT ROUTE 125, Cross Street, and the entrance to South Street just south of the rotary), continuing north on S. Main Street crossing over the Otter Creek closing off (Bakery Lane, Frog Hollow) then south on Route 7 (CLOSING: finishing at the monument across from the intersection of VT ROUTE 7 and Washington Street adjacent the Middlebury Inn.

Several marching bands and bagpipers as well as floats and marcher. This parade is early as many head to Vergennes afterwards.

Vermont's largest Memorial Day parade is hosted by American Legion Post 14. The 2014 theme is “Veterans: Never to be Forgotten.” The parade will start at Vergennes Union High School at 11 a.m., and it will wind its way through the streets of Vergennes until it finishes at the City Green around 1 p.m. Floats, tractors, classic cars, fire trucks, and much, much more!

PARADE ROUTE - Watch from anywhere along the parade route: Vergennes Union High School, Monkton Road, Main Street (VT Route 22A), South Maple Street, Victory Street, Green Street and the City Green. Plan ahead, as portions of these roads will be closed to traffic from approximately 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Please do not park at the High School

Detour Driving Directions

Map of Detour:
From the East Drive 14.5 miles east on 125 towards Hancock. Turn right and drive south on VT 100 for 5 miles, turn right onto VT 73 west for 17 miles, turn right and drive north on RT 7 for 13 miles.

From the West On RT 125 drive 1.5 miles west to Route 7. Turn left on Route 7 and drive south for 13 miles, turn left onto VT 73 east for 17 miles, turn left and drive north on VT 100 for 5 miles, and then turn left onto RT 125.

Road and Bridge Closed

Construction update: Construction activities related to the replacement of Middlebury Vermont Route 125 Bridge 13.

ROUTE 125 CLOSURE: Through June 2

The Middlebury Sand Hill Bridge closed beginning at 7 a.m. April 19 and will remain closed through June 2.

Route 125 will be closed at North Branch Road on the west side of the bridge to Upper Plains Road on the east side of the bridge.

Route 125 - On the west side of the bridge, project related truck activity will be heavy for the first week of the closure.

NOTICE: North Branch Road - Traffic on North Branch Road will remain open for one lane of traffic for the duration of the project. Anticipate extended traffic delays to allow for the placement and assembly of the crane. Seek alternate routes if possible on these dates. Unlimited access will be provided to Emergency Services as needed.

Middlebury River - The portion of the Middlebury River through the project area will be closed for swimming, boating and other recreational purposes for the duration of the project.


New Haven, US 7 at New Haven River bridge

Lane Closure - Reduced To One Lane:

US 7 in New Haven, bridge 129 will have fascia repair done to it starting April 9th and is expected to last into June. Lane closures with signals. Use caution and expect delays during morning and after noon.

NOTICE: Addison County Sheriff's deputies have been notified of increased speeding traffic complaints by drivers using "Dog Team Road" as a by pass.

Addison County Sheriff's deputies will be monitoring and issuing Vermont Civil Violation Complaints for those drivers in excess of the posted speed zone. The "Dog Team Road." is a narrow residential road with local recreation outlets.
